By on October 19, 2017

Two artistic projects by Monica Larsson are displayed in the Gula Galleriet, Gula Byggningen in Gustavsbergs Hamn. A film about living with Asperger’s syndrome together with a creative school project at Farstavikens school.

“Samtal på Transsibiriska” – a documentary about our differences

Research shows that people with Asperger’s syndrome are often very intelligent people who see and experience the world in a different way. This means that they may have difficulty reading other people, following social codes, and having a great need for specific routines and stimulus.

Monica Larsson was awarded in 2015 the Värmdö municipality’s scholarship for artistic activities for her project to make a documentary film, Samtal på Transsibiriska, about how a person with Asperger’s Syndrome experiences and communicates with the outside world.

The film is a collaborative project between Monica Larsson, Jakob Persson, who has diagnosed Asperger’s syndrome and is Asperger’s informant and Hanna Persson, a student at the Film Line at Fridhems Folkhögskola.

The film is 22 minutes long and invites visitors to listen to the conversation and follow the trip. The exhibition will also display photographs from the trip.

A Creative school project at Farstavikens school

Creative school is a city contribution through the Cultural Council that will strengthen interaction between school and professional cultural life. The goal is for students to have access to all forms of expression of culture and to increase their opportunities for self-creation.

The pupils at Farstavikens school got through a Creative school project in task to do “doodlings” together with Monica Larsson. To doodle is to make spontaneous patterns, drawings that grows forward with time. The pupils got 20 x 20 cm square paper and pencils to work with. Monica Larsson then photographed the patterns, transferred them to about 800 clinker plates and burned the pictures in the glaze on the tiles. They were then mounted on two large benches in the entrance hall at the school. There were 80 students who participated in the project.

The exhibitions will take place between 4/11 and 17/12 2017. Open Saturdays and Sundays at. 11-16.

Address: Gula Galleriet, Gustavsbergs Hamn, in the same house as Gustavsbergs Konsthall.
