One Pixies – There are, have been and always will only be one Pixies

By on September 24, 2019

When the band was formed in the mid-1980s to slam artpieces, no one could have imagined that now, thirty years later, they would be considered one of the most important acts of the late 1900s.

But that’s it. Without Pixies, no Nirvana, no Blur, no Weezer, maybe not even a Radiohead. What a poor world we had lived in.

Now we can announce that Pixies is returning to Sweden for a gig at Cirkus in Stockholm on September 30. Then the band should also have released their seventh full-length album, which lands the same month.

During its first incarnation, Pixies released an EP and four albums that are now regarded as pure classics. Come On Pilgrim, Surfer Rosa, Doolittle, Bossanova and Trompe Le Monde are all staples when critics draw their world’s best record lists.

In 1993 they split. Black Francis became Frank Black and released solo discs and Kim Deal started The Breeders before reuniting in winter 2004.

In 2013 Kim Deal jumped off again and was replaced by Paz Lenchantin. In 2014, the album Indie Cindy was released, which collected the EP’s group released since the reunion, and 2016 finally came Pixie’s first album with new material since Trompe Le Monde in 1991.

Head Carrier was well received by critics and audiences and gives the image of a band that still has miles to go on its crooked, sprawling rock trail.

So now they have another new album in the making, and just as usual we can expect great deeds. Real great deeds.

Now it’s time for Pixies to visit Stockholm for a gig at Cirkus Monday September 30, 2019!
