This fall, NK will take the next step in the transformation of the department store and introduce a new sports destination that will offer a unique shopping experience. It will be another contribution in the effort to become a world-class department store.

Nordiska Kompaniet is growing and is now taking the next step in the refinement of the department store. The new sports destination will offer world-leading sports and leisure brands in combination with progressive and innovative brands, unique to the Swedish market. In a creative and inspiring environment, the customer’s experience is put in focus.

– With the focus on sports, we strengthen NK’s position as an international department store, with the ambition to offer our customers brands in the sports segment in absolute world class. The combined sports offering will offer a unique shopping experience where you go to find exclusive brands in an outstanding and inspiring environment, says Andreas Edström, department store manager Nordiska Kompaniet.

The new sports destination will largely consist of the new multibrand department NK Sport together with several strong brands with their own departments, such as J.Lindeberg and Sail Racing. In addition to strong brands, the experience of the interior is enhanced. Behind the interior of the new NK Sport is the well-known architect Jani Kristoffersen from the award-winning architectural firm Guise, who previously created the Photographic Museum in Stockholm and most recently in London. The architect has designed a stripped-down interior influenced by exclusive fashion stores.

– New NK Sport will be one of Europe’s most innovative sports concepts. At 1800 sqm in a world, strongly influenced by progressive fashion stores, we present the very best for alpinism, outdoor, running, cycling, fitness and yoga in an extremely carefully selected range. We combine world-leading sports and outdoor brands such as The North Face, Patagonia, Nike and Adidas along with more unique brands such as Satisfy Running, Black Yak and Snow Peak Japan. I think there is no real premium destination for sports products, NK feels like the right place to create it, says Marc Nylander, the entrepreneur of NK Sport.

The new sports destination at NK opens in autumn 2019.
