NEW EXHIBITION: Anders Ljungberg

By on October 14, 2017

One thing is manifested in the meeting with other things, materials, bodies and spaces.

A cup, based on its own isolated identity, can be considered as the same cup regardless of context, or it can be described as different cups, for example. depending on which bodies it meets or in which context this occurs. In the meeting of these different conditions, the cup appears in new ways in each individual occasion.

Between the thing there are agreements that create the conditions for each other’s occurrence. The table lends its surface to the cup and becomes through this also useful as a table. When the cup, resting on the table surface, enters the user act, its position is shifted in relation to body, space and, not least, itself. In the refilling, gripping and emptying, its identity is transformed to finally be completed as a cup, i.e. as user object fully incorporated in the user act. In this link of events, where the object links to the next stage, the cup is between its starting point and its completion. As an cross.
