Music | Birdy releases new album “Beautiful Lies” March 25

By on January 21, 2016

Jasmine Van den Bogaerde who goes by the stage name Birdy got her big break in 2011 when she only 17 years old released her debut album, consisting her unique interpretation of Bon Iver‘s Skinny Love”. The album sold over 1.5 million copies and became one of the most talked about albums in her home country during the same year. Her third studio album, released March 25 contains 14 new songs, including her latest single “Keeping Your Head Up” which is written by Birdy herself. In England, the song has been added to Radio 1 & Radio 2, and it is the theme song to the BBC TV‘s trailer for this year’s upcoming series and movies.

The album is produced by Jasmin in collaboration with Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys / Adele) and Craig Silvey (Arcade Fire / Florence and the Machine). A deluxe version with four new songs will be released.

Birdy talks about the album; “This is my coming of age record. I’ve learned so much in the last few years and have been able to use the many experiences – good and bad – as inspiration when writing this album. This is the album that I’ve been able to steer most confidently and proudly, from the writing to the production to the artwork. A lot of the album is about finding light in the dark and overcoming the times when we feel completely lost.”
