Django festival

By on August 8, 2017

A tribute to one of the world’s most talented and styling jazz guitarists: Jean Baptiste “Django” Reinhardt. The evening is presented in collaboration with the Swedish Django Reinhardt Society (SDRS), which was founded in Stockholm in 2005, and aims to promote, support and develop the interest and knowledge of the music presented and created by Django Reinhardt.

18:00 Swing Magnifique

Swing Magnifique was founded in 2007 and has a repertoire partly derived from the classic recordings Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli made in the 30’s. By combining these with jazz standards, French schlagers and own compositions, the band has created its own unique style. All the different songs are performed in Django’s unmistakable style.

Josefin Peters – song
Tom Buhre – guitar
Terese Lien Evenstad – violin
Åke Jonsson – guitar
Filip Berglund – contrabass

The RP Quartet revives the 1960s jazz repertoire in the spirit of the Hot Club de France Quartet. It is about Roman jazz from Paris in the same tradition as Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli stood for. Rhythmically and intensively and with space for solo trips on both guitar, violin and bass.
