The first premiere of the Kulturhuset Stadsteatern in 2018 becomes the crime comedy musical Åtta kvinnor which are put up for the first time on a Swedish theater scene. In two of the main roles we see Siw Malmkvist and Sharon Dyall. Directing does Anna Novovic.

Eight women are a French play written in 1958 by Robert Thomas. 2002 became the play movie, a hailed black comedy by François Ozon with among others Isabelle Huppert and Catherine Deneuve in the main roles. The play, and even the filming, is about the murder of one man and eight women who hate each other.

A wealthy family gathered to celebrate Christmas in an isolated country house. Outside the snow whistle and inside the house, the new housemaid Louise has made a horrendous discovery. The man in the house is dead in his bed with a knife in his back. Which of the eight women in place is the murderer? The victim’s wife? Mistress? Any of the daughters? The sister? Sister in law? Or the housekeeper? Everyone has those secrets. Everybody hates each other more or less.

Anna Novovic, director and manager of the Summer scene Malmö, director debuts at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern with Eight women. Swedish premiere January 25 at Klarascenen.

– I received some of my biggest theater experiences at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern as young, so I feel very honored by the assignment, says Anna Novovic. When I saw François Ozon’s filming of Eight Women, I fell in love! Underneath the recognizable surface, they hide from coarse greed to forbidden passion. I hope to present a charming nail-biter with a little bit of bitter aftertaste simply!

Tuesday, October 17, the tickets were also released to Jag är en annan nu, as we have previously told about, a newly written piece about a mom-and-daughter relationship. For scripts and directors stands Björn Runge, currently highly topical with internationally acclaimed film “The wife” with Glenn Close in the lead role. Jag är en annan nu gets it’s firsts performance at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern January 27, 2018. The roles like mother and daughter are made by guldbagge winning Ann Petrén and Sofia Ledarp.
In addition, we release the tickets to Ronja Rövardotter by Astrid Lindgren, directed by Ronny Danielsson, which gets an awaiting revival on January 25th.

– So the play starts at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern in 2018. The curtain goes up for a long-awaited family rerun, a dramatic chamber play between mother and daughter, and a crime comedy musical with eight women! Says Anna Takanen, theater and stage director at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern.

Tickets for further performances of My Fair Lady, Våra drömmars stad, Because I’m Worth It and Frontens gryningsfärg were released on Tuesday, October 17th.
