Asteroids, dinosaurs and the new era of anthropocene

By on May 25, 2017

Due to the fact that the anthropocene has become a “fashion word”, the Museum of Natural History and Cosmonova is open in the evening on May 31 for anyone who wants to know more.

For the first time, it is human that affects the development of the earth and not the opposite. Earth’s development has been divided into epochs, and the present era is called anthropocene.

The fifth mass extinction on Earth was caused by an asteroid and, among other things, the dinosaurs died out. Now the sixth mass extinction is ongoing. Professor Vivi Vajda believes that the human can be likened with an asteroid.

The Museum of Natural History and Cosmonova is open in the evening due to this topic:

Wednesday 31 May 2017 at 18.30

1. A Beautiful Planet. Movie at Cosmonova where you accompany the ISS space station and see the planet from space.
2. Presentation by Professor Vivi Vajda about the fifth and sixth mass extinction.
3. Evenings open in exhibitions about the evolution of the Earth and humanity.
