The darkness has subsided, but the bright spots are many when Skansen enters November. The month starts with autumn holidays and ends with Christmas getting started with Christmas tables, Christmas in houses and farms and the first Christmas market of the year.

Autumn holiday with free entry for children
It tells about horrors from before in the city district where time is 1840 and the cholera rages. Pysselverkstad is located in the forest house, where you can make herb bags and good luck crumbs to keep evil things away. The wise provides good advice in Bollnäs cottage and Kyrkstöten waits in the Seglora church.
New for this year is that it is free entry for all children (0-15 years in the goalkeeper’s company).

Christmas market 24-25 November
Christmas is now starting with Christmas markets for four weekends starting on 24-25 November. The shops open the gaps, sellers from all over the country pack up Christmas food, textiles, herring and sweets, jewelry and saffron buns. There is dancing around the Christmas tree with the smoke of hot and freshly baked donuts, roasted almonds and coal bulls and much more. The craftsmen in the city district are open and Christmas songs are heard a little here and there when visiting choirs sing Christmas sings a capella. Next Christmas markets are 1 – 2, 8 – 9 and 15 – 16 December.

Christmas in houses and farms
Experience Christmas before in houses and farms. Here is a story about how Christmas was celebrated in different epochs. In some cottages the Christmas trees are decorated and in others there are decorated Christmas tables.
Visit at the bookprints family celebrating Christmas in Boktryckarbostaden. Step into a Christmas celebration like in Hälsingland in 1850. See how a Christmas table appeared in 1870 at Oktorpsgården from Halland.
The family in Järnhandlarbostaden prepares for Christmas in town in the 1930s, and in the Posthuset, both spruce and space are decorated with Christmas. At the poor family in Statarlängan is Christmas simpler, but the Christmas atmosphere is still there. The Christmas tree in Väla school is decorated with crackers and for a few days there will be Christmas baking in the house.
24 November – 6 January
