The War On Drugs new album

By on June 3, 2017

The War On Drugs releases its fourth studio album, A Deeper Understanding, August 25, and is the first album released via Atlantic Records. It’s also the band’s first album since 2014’s Lost In The Dream.

The band now also presents the single “Holding On” from the new album, which is the sequel to the 11-minute-long single “Thinking of a Place” released in conjunction with Record Store Day earlier this year.

Since the last album Lost In The Dream, The War On Drugs frontman Adam Granduciel has been in studios in Los Angeles and New York to write, record, edit – but above all to put himself in hard work. He has collaborated with Shawn Everett (Alabama Shakes, Weezer) and together they have challenged what it means to make music in today’s digital and modern landscape. Granduciel has also worked closely with his band members; Bassist Dave Hartley, keyboardist Robbie Bennett, drummer Charlie Hall, Anthony LaMarca and Jon Natchez throughout the process, resulting in the album being a most common effort in purest form.

The War On Drugs will go out on a two month long tour starting in mid September. Tickets are available for purchase at www.thewarondrugs.net. They will also perform on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on June 5th.
