Now the list has been presented on which Stockholm buildings will be opened to the public when the International Architecture Festival Open House is held for the fourth consecutive year on October 4-6.

During the festival, Stockholmers are given the opportunity for free guided tours of some sixty buildings that otherwise the public will not have access to.

“We hope that the various visits increase your interest in the built environment and that you will feel pride and joy in the city’s buildings.”, Åsa Engwall, Chairman of the Board of Open House Stockholm.

This year, among other things, the following buildings will be open to the public:

– Stockholm Castle – facade restoration, challenges and road choices
– The reactor hall
– Northern Djurgårdsstaden
– Hagastaden
– Solna Strand
– The City Archives Liljeholmen
– Ralph Erskine’s Box on Lovön
– The main square in Alby
– Kvarnholmen – a new district with history

This year we have several different major urban development projects among our program points.

“Open House gives Stockholmers the opportunity to experience environments they would not otherwise have encountered. Don’t miss the chance to enter well-known and unknown rooms in the city’s fantastic offerings,” says Torleif Falk, City Architect Stockholm City, Ambassador for Open House Stockholm.

About Open House
The Open House Festival was founded in London in 1992 by Victoria Thornton, who was frustrated by the barriers between the architectural community and the city’s citizens. Opening up London’s most exciting buildings was a way of educating and engaging the public with questions about the city’s development and the built environment. Open House brings together over a million visitors every year in over 40 cities.

Open House Stockholm is part of the global network Open House Worldwide. The Societies Society Builders, the Society Buildings Link, the Stockholm Architects Association and the Stockholm Building Society are the founders of Open House Stockholm. Partners during Open House Stockholm 2019 are Vasakronan and Humlegården. The festival is also sponsored by Akademiska Hus, Kvarnholmen, AIX and JM.
