Swedish premiere with Stuffed Puppet Theater

The soloist Neville Tranter makes under the name Stuffed Puppet Theater puppetry for adults in a very own style. In his hands, foam rubber and fabric becomes an entire gallery of characters, a kind of decadent muppets on speed. The 30-31 May guest plays the Stuffed Puppet Theater at the Marionette Theater with two different performances played in English – “Babylon”, which has Swedish premiere, and celebrated “Mathilde”.
– Finally, we have the opportunity to invite Neville Tranter, one of the puppetry’s great performers, to Stockholm, says Helena Nilsson, artistic director of the Marionette Theater. Internationally he is highly sought after and it is fun that there is so much interest in his unique play style here in Sweden as well. This is puppetry for adult in it’s esses!
The Australian Neville Tranter went to the Amsterdam festival in the late 1970s with his one-man company and remained. In addition to an extensive tournament with his own performances, he undertakes director assignments for other theaters and provides workshops.
To the Marionette Theater comes the Stuffed Puppet with two productions: Mathilde – a tragic comedy about getting old in a unscrupulous world, and Babylon, who has the Swedish premiere. Babylon is a modern biblical story about the human and fate, but also about how we live our lives while others die. What should we do? What can we do?
With human-sized soft dolls, Neville Tranter embodies serious subjects with empathy, intensity and not least a hefty portion of humor.
Plays in English. Recommended from 15 years.
Public Call May 31, 20.00-20.30
After the performance of Babylon, a short conversation is taking place between Neville Tranter (Stuffed Puppet Theater) and Niclas Malmcrona (Swedish Assitej), where the audience is also able to ask questions.
