Stockholms part of Dance carousel on three scenes in the county

By on March 15, 2018

16 dance groups with about 100 dancers from 9 different municipalities and 10 different dance styles are given the opportunity to participate in the dance show Dance carousel Stockholm 2018. Anne Rönkkö, Lisa Janbell and Alexander Dam are the coach group to guide the dancers through the tour. The tour has been around since 2015 and has quickly become a popular forum for dancers who want to develop and express their interest in the audience.

New to this year is that the Dance carousel has coaches instead of a jury, to promote and put the greatest weight on the development momentum. The dancers receive written feedback after each tour stop and individual tutorial between the tour top.

Another news for this year is that the part tour taking place in Stockholm County is now also in Huddinge, which makes that the Dance carousel reach new audiences and new dancers in the southern part of the county.

– The Dance carousel Stockholm wants to offer young dancers from all of Stockholm County a professional context of stage performance and coaching without having to go through auditions, trainings or other excluding moments, says Ruzan Hakopian, Dance carousel manager for Stockholm County.

The Dance carousel will take place March 24 at Arena Satellite in Sollentuna, then go on April 14 to the House in Huddinge and finish May 5 at Tumbascenen in Botkyrka. At the last tour stop, two dance numbers will be nominated to represent Stockholm County in the national festival in Karlstad on May 26th. This is determined by the audience as well as the chosen coach group based on the participants who impressed and developed most during the tour.

The scenes that the Dance carousel creates cooperation with are selected in municipalities in view of carrying out the wide geographic spread in the county. This is because the tour will be a meeting place for dance-interested regardless of cultural background and socio-economic status. Through the common denominator dance the tour builds bridges between municipalities and districts.
