Tilde Björfors challenges traditional hierarchies in Cirkus Cirkör’s new performance “Epifónima”. Production has been created by women. The ensemble consists of seven female circus artists from around the world. And the theme is women’s voices and their way of organizing themselves through history: from the ancient goddess Ishtar to American activist Tarana Burke.

Tilde Björfors and Cirkus Cirkör’s Next Production Epifónima is inspired by women’s voices, endeavors and ways of creating and organizing. The representations range from the goddess Ishtar, Hildegard of Bingen, Beginning Movement and Pockettidningen R to today’s fighters like Fatemeh Khavari and Tarana Burke.

We want to lift and pay tribute to the courage and values that have been required to create change. In humble admiration we link to the long chain of women who paved the way so we are where we are today, with the opportunity to look forward.

Epifónima, which means “exclamation” in Greek, is a natural continuation of Tilde Björfors recent events Borders, Limits and Movements that crossed borders, constraints and migration.

The music is composed by Rebekka Karijord, who earlier made the music to Circus Cirkör’s performance Wear it like a crown.

Epifónima is produced in cooperation with the Östgötateatern.
