Stockholm Design Week

Purchasers, architects, designers and journalists from all over the world come to Stockholm week 6 when Stockholm Design Week and Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair are launched. With the fair as a hub, the city is occupied by some 200 design events, exhibitions, mingle and parties. This year’s Design Week also presents for the first time 25h Design.

Some of the highlights of the year:

25h Design, February 8-9
Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair has initiated 25h Design, a new design festival open to the public. Friday, February 8 at 4 pm, Stockholm’s design scene opens up with events and workshops for the public. Mingle and be inspired together with other design enthusiasts. Saturday, February 9, the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair will open the doors to the public, who will have the opportunity to see the latest news before they come out in the store.

Bukowskis x Magniberg – SIE WOHNEN HIER, February 5-9
Bukowskis, Berzelii Park 1
The exhibition is curated by Magniberg, an internationally acclaimed design group who for the first time participates in Stockholm Design Week. The exhibition contains selected art and design from Bukowski’s side by side with Magniberg’s textiles and colorful cubist furniture.

Färg & Blanche: The Baker’s House, February 5-9
Julius Hus, Bondegatan 21A
Färg & Blanche presents a personal exhibition that takes place in Emma Blanche’s grandmother’s grandfather’s parade floor from 1889. Design duo shows new objects, installations and furniture inspired by the family’s history and the Knäckebrödfabriken they once had.

R-evolve, February 4-10
Jussi Björlings Allé 5, Kungsträdgården
The Malmö-based design studio Stoft Studio consists of three award-winning industrial designers: Jenny Ekdahl, Ola Nystedt and Joel Herslow. In Volvo Studio in Kungsträdgården, this year they are creating an exhibition where visitors can access different angles of approach on form, material and objects.

Salvador Dalí’s sculptures, 5-18 February
Norrmalmstorg, Brunkebergstorg and Kungsträdgården
Some of Salvador Dalí’s bronze sculptures are shown in Stockholm in February. The three largest monumental sculptures – one of them five meters high and three tons heavy – are placed in the middle of Stockholm, where they can be viewed from February 5. When the Antique Fair is going on February 14-17, another 30 sculptures will be shown at the fair.

Ung Svensk Form, Feb. 5 – March 31
ArkDes, Skeppsholmen
Ung Svensk Form is a jury-rated award and a hiking exhibition. At ArkDes, the contributions are shown in product design, fashion, arts and crafts and architecture.

In the “Essentialial Design Guide” and at and in the app Stockholm Design Week, the week’s event is presented together with tips at Stockholm’s best shopping places, restaurants and bars.

Stockholm Design Week lasts February 4-10.
Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair takes place at Stockholm International Fairs on 5-9 February.
