Safety Month in the subway

By on October 23, 2016

A safe trip is something that the MTR, our employees and all travelers create together. Every day carried about 1.2 million passengers in the subway as issues affecting many people, reason MTR Nordic’s security director Emma Stone Holm.

MTR defines security as “hard facts” that can be measured, for example, the number of travelers who pinched in the locking or falls on escalator while security is about the traveler’s perception of security during the trip. A safe as well as secure trip is important to Stockholmers to use the subway and in addition feel happy with the trip.

During the period from October 24 to 31 carried out various activities for travelers. Among other things, inviting SL and MTR in older travelers to “try-trips” and there is the opportunity for travelers to meet the metro staff. A schedule for the travel activities are below.

This year we put extra focus on stations where experience tells us that insecurity is greater. We will also cooperate with the local police at some of these occasions, says Emma Stenholm.

We can all contribute to increased safety through proper behavior. It may for example be to:

– Pay for itself and go through the locks one at a time and not run.

– Stand still and hold on to escalator. Look forward instead of mobile.

Avoid standing on the white line on the platform and leave space for disembarking.

Recognize metros door closing signal, and never hold the doors.

Hold on board the train, and help children, pregnant women, the disabled and the elderly to find a seat.

Never get things that been dropped on the track. Contact staff.

– Keep an eye when traveling with children and make sure not to go on hoverboards, skateboard, roller skates or kick bikes on the platform.
