Running party in samba beat around Söder

By on August 16, 2017

On Saturday goes the starting shot for the year’s running party in Stockholm. A total of 35,000 are reported to experience the Midnight Race together with an audience that is more than ten times as big. Expect the entire Södermalm to boil.

Thomas Gylling, Samba groups, Cheerleaders and Irish musicians are some entertaining along the track. And no one will get bored. Things happen every three hundred meters. The Marshals up to the Sofia church embellish the evening further.

We start already at 12.30 with Minimilen, where thousands of children between two and eight years run in pure pleasure at Zinkensdamm’s IP. It is followed up by this year’s news: Happy Midnight Race – The race for anyone who has a cognitive disabilities.

– We want more people to get the chance to run and attend the party. We open up and reach new target groups who get to take part of the healthcare that the Midnight Race means, says Henrik Balkander, competiton leader for the Midnight Race in Stockholm.

Another news is the single class, where all singles have the chance to mingle with each other. Sharing the passion for running makes for great conversation and chance of matching. They start at the same time and have exactly ten kilometers for dating.

The runners in the lead make a humanitarian effort by abandoning the prize money. The full prize money is donated to the UNHCR – UN Refugee Body.

The midnight race is taking place for the 36th time in Stockholm.
