One week to Stockholm Culture Festival 2017

Indian market at Skeppsbron. Sparkling Bollywood party during the opening night of Gustav Adolf’s square and talks about sustainability and the new India at Kulturhuset Studion. In about a week, Stockholm’s city is filled with culture when Stockholm’s Culture Festival is being held 15-20 August. Everything with free entrance.

Skeppsbron gets exciting Indian market. On the market, genuine Indian crafts and food from four of India’s regions will be found. Chai, dosas, biryani, handblock printing and more.

The grand stage at Gustav Adolf’s square opens with a splendid Bollywood Festival during the opening night of August 15, when Team Bollywood AW opens with a big party followed by the performance Love Story – A Bollywood Musical (IN), a thrilling performance with energetic choreography and colorful scenery.

During the Indian theme, talks about tolerance and sustainability are also held. Jerry Johnson, Indian writer, HBTQ activist and speaker, together with moderator Eli Göndör, explore issues of diversity and tolerance and share experiences from India. The author Henrik Sundbom, SVT’s India correspondent Malin Mendel Westberg and Vagabond founder and India expert Per J Andersson answer questions about New India in a conversation that strikes off in Sundbom’s book “På spaning efter det nya Indien.”

The family area at Norrbro is also open in the evening in friday and fills the evening with the jazz trion Andreas Hourdakis Trio, screwed and humorous circus show with the Finnish show Motosikai and lots of pyssel.

Stockholm city’s cultural prize winner is presented at Gustav Adolfs square on 18/8, where among others Suzanne Osten, Erik Lundin, Lars Epstein and Förenade Förorter are celebrated. In conjunction with the award ceremony, the Nelson Mandela Prize is also awarded to the company Newcomers Stockholm, run by RFSL Stockholm. Conferences are Ametist Azordegan.

The Stockholm Culture Festival has a free entrance, lasting 15-20 August and offers something for all ages. This year’s festival theme is India and is presented in collaboration with India Unlimited and the Indian Embassy.
