Now comes Musikschlaget to Stockholm

By on April 22, 2017

On April 29th, it is time for a contest in Stockholm in Musikschlaget, Sweden’s Melodifestival for people with disabilities. On stage are 15 artists competing for the desirable places for the final in Sundsvall on November 11th.

The partial competition in Stockholm takes place April 29th in Rågsved Nya Folkets Hus. In the Musikschlaget, bands and soloists participate with their own material or covers and are open to all genres. All contributions are judged by a jury based on three criteria: musicality, originality and overall impression. Musikschlaget is a melody festival with extra meaning. Much glamor, glitter and joy are promised.

Musikschlaget was organized for the first time in 2011 and comprises 8 contests with 10-15 contestants each. To the final in Sundsvall there will be 10 artists. The competition is organized in collaboration between the band and the daily activities Maitraiders and Studieforbundet Bilda.

– It’s so fun that Musikschlaget grows, as it means we have managed to reach out to so many musicians with disabilities. Bilda has great music activities and several occasions for Bilda bands to appear, but this competition is also open for other bands. It’s so funny to see what joy and pride it gives the musicians on stage, many times with self-written music and sometimes with covers, says Olle Norberg, Head of Unit Bilda Mitt and Head of Musikschalget

For the Studieförbundet Bilda is Musikschlaget part of a major music business. Co-creation, participation and life interpreting are an important part of our cultural activities. Through music and other creative expressions develop’s people and contexts.
