Computer and video games are everywhere, but what do you really know about the creative worlds behind the screens?

In the exhibition Yarny, Medusa and an elephant: The craftsmanship behind Swedish game design allows the visitor to experience the hidden craft behind Swedish game design through never before shown sketch books, illustrations, prototypes and sculptures. Meet talented designers in one of Sweden’s most important artistic fields.

The purpose of the exhibition is to show the visitors the craftsmanship that the game creators stand for, and open up their eyes to the creative process that lies behind when a high-flying idea develops into a groundbreaking game.

– ArkDes wants to broaden the view of what design is. The gaming world is one of the most creative design areas right now, and a field where Sweden is at the forefront internationally. We want to offer the audience an insight into the creative process that lies behind some of the foremost Swedish gaming successes. We are so happy about the collaboration with Illustrator Center and we look forward to jointly highlighting this artistic field, says Kieran Long, superintendent at ArkDes.

Illustrator Center is Sweden’s largest intermediary of illustrators, graphic designers, animators, game designers and series creators.

– We hope that visitors of all ages get aha experiences and inspiration to experiment on their own in front of and behind the screen. It is a unique game exhibition that highlights the visual narrative and, as an intermediary of illustrators, animators and designers, we are of course proud to showcase the artistic work that the creator is behind in a new exhibition at ArkDes, says Caroline Agné, Business Manager, Illustrator Center ( IC).
