Movies | Ronja, The Robber’s Daughter won the Emmy Kids Awards

Ronja, The Robber’s Daughter won the Emmy Kids Awards in the category of Kids Animation.
The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences last night announced the winners of the 4th International Emmy® Kids Awards which took place for the first time at MIPTV, in Cannes, in partnership with Reed MIDEM.
“We congratulate all the winners for their outstanding achievements and for setting the high-quality standard we all expect for kids.”, said International Academy President, Bruce L. Paisner.
“I am greatly excited to be receiving the International Emmy Kids Award becase we created Ronja for “kids”. I would like to share my delight today with all of the relevant people. Thank you very much.” says director Goro Miyazaki.
“Creating the 3DCG animation without compromising the hand-drawn Ghibli taste was a big challenge. Ronja was the first CG animation for Goro, and he suffered so much, but this award makes us believe that his challenge was successful.”, says producer Nobuo Kawakami.
“We want to thank Goro Myazaki and his team for their fantastic work and congratulate them to this prestigious award. We are honoured and proud to be part of this and feel that the tv-series captures the spirit and high quality of the original story by Astrid Lindgren in a very fine way”, says Olle Nyman CEO at Saltkråkan AB, the Astrid Lindgren Company.
“The award has already attracted major territory sales and we look forward to announcing these shortly”, says Genevieve Dexter, CEO of Serious lunch, the international sales agent of the series.
Ronja, the Robber’s Daughter, Astrid Lindgren’s final great work, was released in 1981. The book has been translated into 41 languages and more than 10 million copies have been sold worldwide. Now – 35 years later– it comes to us in an entirely new guise, created by GorōMiyazaki of the legendary Studio Ghibli in Japan.
