September 14, 2017 at 10:45 am to 17 in Svarta havet at Konstfack.

The symposium is in English, open to all and requires no pre-notification.

As a photographer, critic, curator and teacher at Konstfack, Hans Hedberg played a decisive role in the creation of photography as an artistic practice in the 1990s. During his time as Head of Valand and Dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Gothenburg, he had great importance for the emergence of artistic research in Sweden in the 20st century. In honor of Hans Hedberg’s memory, Konstfack and the Academy of Valand arrange a symposium where attention is focused on what is happening in contemporary art – entirely in the spirit of Hedberg. People who met him at different stages of his life have been invited to choose active practitioners from various contemporary photographic fields, theoretical and practical.

The symposium consists of two keynotes and a series of shorter artist talks. In parallel, one of the exhibitions arranged at Fotografins Hus is displayed at Konstfack and after the symposium, it is release by The Hans Hedberg reader.

Participants does Joanna Zylinska, Bénédicte Ramade, Maria Lantz, Olof Glemme, Svante Larsson, Niclas Östlind, Eva Stenram, Aida Chehrehgosha, Iréne Berggren, Iris Smeds, Verk, Simon Berg, Annika von Hausswolff, Tyrone Martinsson, Chris Wainwright and Gunilla Knape.
