Maritime celebrates the love with drop-in wedding on Valentine’s Day

Couples who marries on the open sea, in need and desire, are a recurring element of popular culture. It has established the myth of the captain’s right to wed. The captain’s occupation does not now include the assignment as a wedding vicar. On the other hand, it does for Maritime’s museum director Hans-Lennart Ohlsson, who at Valentine’s Day opens the museum for drop-in weddings.

– It will be a bit like compensating for the Captain’s myth. But above all, we want to take care of celebrating the love. In addition, the City Hall is fully booked and we have a fantastic building for good weddings, says Hans-Lennart Ohlsson.

The museum’s magnificent hall, with the transom of Gustav III’s ship Amphion in the center, will be decorated with flowers and wedding bows. On February 14, everyone who wants to get married is welcome between 10am and 10pm. Free entrance and wedding ceremony.

In order to get married, the couples must be over 18 years of age, carry valid application for a marriage license and legitimacy. Witnesses are in place if needed but their own are also welcome. Registration at the entrance on February 14 or via for a specific time.
