By on May 23, 2016

2015-16 season concludes with Puccinifestival and crowd favorite Turandot. The title role is sung by soprano Emma Vetter, who earlier this year made a success as Medea in Daniel Börtz ‘operatic tenor, while Jesper Taube takes the role of Calaf. Both make their expansive roles for the first time. Revival of Opera’s main stage May 25

Turandot is so much more than Calafs famous “Nessun dorma”, the opera world’s most famous and beloved aria. It is above all a shimmering beautiful, dramatic and deeply moving opera.

In Marco Arturo Morellis set becomes the prince in Jesper Taube figure even the operas composer Giacomo Puccini, who is struggling with completing Turandot, remained unfinished at the composer’s death in 1924. The opera uses Franco Alfano’s ending, for the first time in this set, conducted by Pier Giorgio Morandi , revered especially for his interpretations of Italian Verdi- and Puccini repertoire.

As slave Liù is heard again soprano Yana Kleyn, audience and critic favorite at the premiere in 2013. Present will further the Royal Opera soloists, the Royal Opera’s chorus and children’s choir from Adolf Fredrik’s Music School. As Pang makes tenor Göran Eliasson an appearance at the revival.

Turandot is given seven times in the spring inclusive season finale on the main stage on 15 June. The Puccini Festival includes – besides Turandot – La Bohème and Madama Butterfly.
