The Magnettes play on Fotografiska bar opening Saturday, 30 January.

The pop group The Magnettes will release their next single on 19 February. Killers in a Ghost Town is the title and has many connections to the local community in Pajala. The text is to grow up in a small community and all that it entails.

-We mix in our minority language Meänkieli in the text of the new single. Says Sanna Kalla from The Magnettes.

-Even the video for the single was recorded in Pajala. This is what we are coming from and what we are proud of, says Rebecka Digervall.

The single became when The Magnettes visited Nashville immediately after they had played at the world’s largest showcase festival SXSW (South by South West) last year.

-It was during SXSW that we were discovered by our American record company Digsin and they gave some hints about which way we should go. We had the same thoughts so we wrote it a few days later. Develops Tomas Backlund Thunström who is the third member of The Magnettes.

Tomas has been in charge of production and development of the Magnettes sound, but the single has also received the American professionals help of mixer and producer Christian Cummings in San Diego.

We were on tour last fall in the US for our single “Bones,” when we played at The Cashbah in San Diego and met Christian and managed to get him interested in working with the single. Tells Sanna. Christian has worked with a lot of great artists such as Icona Pop, Tiesto, Florence and the Machine, incredibly fun that he wanted to work with us on the Killers in a Ghost Town“, adds Rebecka.
