December 8 Cirkus, Stockholm

José González is undoubtedly one of the greatest singer-songwriters, and has once again with the latest album Vestiges & Claws demonstrated his greatness. After a highly acclaimed performance at this year’s Stockholm Music & Arts, we now have another chance to see him + band on Swedish ground December 8 at Cirkus in Stockholm.

José González released his debut album Veneer in 2003 and its sequel, In Our Nature came in 2007, two albums of delicate and emotional indie folk with guitars and vocals in a focus which was to put José González on top of singer-songwriter throne. After that it went over seven years before José González returned with the masterpiece Vestiges & Claws in February. But he was hardly idle in the meantime including two albums with his band Junip, tours with Sidi Toure and Tinariwen and soundtrack work on the CV of the seven years.

Vestiges & Claws is the third installation of González acoustic trilogy and was recorded at home and produced by José González himself. The album is an intimate story in which the soft guitar arrangements meet the incredible songwriting. Live it gets wings and lift to new heights with all-out bands (Joel Wästberg, Jacob Albinsson, James Mathe and Andres Renteria).

When in August he, along with the aforementioned musicians, stood in front of a full Skeppsholmen at this year’s Stockholm Music & Arts DN‘s Po Tidholm described the concert with the words incomprehensible good, one of the best I’ve seen in a long time.” We could not have said it better myself. José González always goes straight to the heart and December suddenly feels more awaited than ever.
