February 28 – Stockholm, Cirkus

422 million plays on Spotify. A figure that is difficult to grasp, and an achievement that few songs (read: three in the world) has succeeded. With their Take Me To Church penetrated Hozier through the commercial noise around the world and left no one indifferent. After an acclaimed gig at last year’s Way Out West, he is now due for a gig in Sweden. This time we see Hozier at Cirkus in Stockholm on 28 February.

The Irish drummer son Andrew HozierByrne, aka Hozier, swept like a tornado two years ago over the musical landscape with the debut single Take Me To Church. In 2014, the song became number one single in 12 countries, reaching a top 10 placement in 21 other territories. As if that says enough, Take Me To Church in the current situation reached the figure of 422 million plays on Spotify. It is the third most played song on the entire Spotify. Ever.

One of the reasons the song’s big spread (except that it is crazy good) is the accompanying music video that became viral after being openly criticized the Russian regime’s criminalization of homosexuality. Hozier managed to penetrate the massive commercial noise and capture everyone’s attention by blending genuine powerful soul with a dark and intelligent rock.

Since his entrance onto the music scene has only 25 years old Hozier received awards, nominations and appearances at major music award shows as frequent as the rain fell over Ireland. Last year his debut album reached the top 10 on the album charts in over 11 countries an album that by music magazine Clash was described with the words An authentic portrait of an artist soulful, spiritual and seductive and a deeply impressive first step”.

At February 28 Hozier comes to Cirkus, Stockholm. A safe bet for what will be a memory for life.
