Saturday, January 9 is the premiere in the city hill Hammarbybacken. It is Sälenbacken that open up for the season.

The recent winter weather has also benefited Stockholm with snow and cold. Now you can finally take the first slalom turns in the middle of town. The snow guns is in full operation and Saturday, January 9 at 9.00 opens Hammarbybacken for the season.

It feels great to be able to open. We know that many have longed to take the first turns in the middle of town, said John Andersson, Site Manager, SkiStar Hammarbybacken.

When other slopes can open depends on the weather. But the plan is to open a treadmill and more slopes as soon as possible, said John Andersson and is cautiously positive.

Hammarbybacken will be at the international focus during the Alpine World Cup race, which takes place on 23 February.

The competition is part of the drive to city events such as FIS International Ski Federation advocates. The top 16 ladies and gentlemen of the overall World Cup comes for a number of hours to fight in Hammarbybacken, side by side in a parallel slalom to sift the wheat from the chaff.
