Local | Food innovation contest Matverk – Now in Stockholm!

By on June 22, 2016
Matverk is the largest innovation competition in food and for the first time participate Stockholm. Right now is a frantic activity around the county where chefs, producers and marketers form teams – all with the conviction that they can create a product that captures the capital’s tastes best.

Here battling creative and innovative dishes – where the fundamental raw material is produced locally – for fame and fortune.

Matverk is really a flirtation with the future. Here we see the products created that sooner or later will be launched on the market in Stockholm, Sweden, and perhaps the world. It’s incredibly fun that the interest is so high among producers, processors and chefs participating in the competition, “said Eva Helén, development strategist in projects MatLust and race director of Matverk.

In Matverk strikes forward primary producers, chefs innovative and creative marketers, designers and business developers together in teams and in November they present their new creation at the regional final at TomTits Experiment in Sodertalje.

Some who have decided to participate is Jon Randow, who runs the company Sausage Crafts Vällingby, and Marie Backrud on Löfsta Manor Dairy in Vallentuna.

“I know Jon already, and we have talked about cooperating, but this is the first product that we develop together,” says Marie Backrud.

Marie does not want to reveal too much about the competition entry, but says that it is a product with distinctive flavors of the place. For her and Jon comes Matverk perfect.

Matverk can be a good venue for us and a springboard to enter the market with the product. That’s fine, I am convinced that we develop more products together – now we’ve got a taste for this “, says Maria.

Last year won an ramslöksgremolata from Gotland national final in Matverk, while a forest sausages from Sörmlandsleden got the silver medal. A total of 120 regional competitions organized and 760 products have been produced and have met market. And now it’s premiere of Stockholm.

EU project MatLust stands together with the County Administrative Board of Stockholm behind Stockholm version of Matverk.
