The exhibition The artist wants to discuss what it means to be an artist, both today and in a historical perspective. It‘s about roles, ideals and myths and shows how artists behaved to their contemporaries values, audiences and markets. In a collaboration between the Academy of Art, Moderna Museet and Nationalmuseum shown total of some 100 works of a number of art history’s most famous names, from Rubens and Rembrandt of Renoir and Picasso to Cindy Sherman.

Ingegerd Råman, one of the foremost influential designers in Sweden with the clear glass as her signature, has made a choice among mission and tasks; current or previously implemented. In the exhibition, she says herself, through objects, drawings, films and texts, challenges and quests for both national and international large and small producers. The exhibition is produced by the National Museum in cooperation with Vandalorum.

The exhibition Art / Crafts? highlights the thoughts of conceptual shifts and movements that occur at the interface between craft and art. This raises questions about the significance of the material, context and categorizations. What’s the example that makes us consider the same object with “different eyes” depending on whether the object is exhibited in a gallery or in a crafts exhibition. The exhibition items in the larger format of a dozen contemporary artists / craftspeople.
