Craftsmanship leaves its mark on the new products in the Skansen collection

In 2015 launched a collection of home furnishing products with inspiration and designs of costumes and textiles at Skansen’s dressing room. They quickly became popular in the Skansen stores and online shop.

Now, new products have been developed in Skansen store’s collection, inspired by the craftsmanship at Skansen and typically Swedish materials and patterns. The next launch is inspired by Swedish iron, Norrland leather and lace patterns from Dalahätta.

Iron Lady is a candlestick where the model is a decoration at Skansen store’s façade, created by one of Skansen’s own blacksmiths. Wallets in leather made of reindeer skin and is linked to the Sámi handicraft tradition that goes back many of the store’s previous products. Lace pattern on the bread box is both a homage to Swedish crafts and the great interest in food craftsmanship that is reflected in Skansens often sold out crafts courses in Bagarstugan. Here you can join in and bake your bread in the wood oven or buy it ready, but just as good, in Skansen Shop.

We continue to draw inspiration from our collections and create exciting new products. It is stimulating that we in this way can give everyone the opportunity to take part of our common cultural heritage and create greater interest in the craft, says Anna Boden, unit manager – sales at Skansen.
