Lady Bird opens Stockholm’s feminist film festival 2018

Greta Gerwig’s direct debut lady Lady Bird inaugurates Stockholm’s feminist film festival in 2018. The film has won a series of awards, most recently a Golden Globe for best film, and is favorite tipped in front of the Oscars gala. The film is about seventeen-year-old Christine “Lady Bird” McPherson, who longs to become an adult and get away from the hometown of Sacramento, California. With an unemployed and depressed father and a mother struggling to make the economy go together, Lady Bird is dreaming about college and life on the east coast.

– It feels right to inaugurate with Lady Bird who turns upside down on the male-dominated American independent genre and challenging Hollywood by taking home the big prizes. Middle during the ongoing #metoo revolution shows Gerwig that women do not need to be objects but can take place as subjects and narrators. Lady Bird is a jubilee for those who believed that women’s films can not reach the big audience, says Stephanie Thögersen, Festival Manager.

The opening will take place on February 22 at Sweden’s largest cinema, Rigoletto 1. The doors will open for mingel and refreshments at. 17:30. Then there will be a incitement speech of the year’s opening speaker (revealed shortly), share-out of the feminist film scholarship Anna award and a host of other surprises.
