Åsa Lockner
17/3 – 11/4 2018
I sit and look at Henrik Schyffert who has pigs in the apartment and calls his son for Limpan. What cool they seem and how far away it suddenly feels. In just over a year I have gone from, like Henrik, live at Vasaparken, drink latte after visiting the park and feel good when I buy KRAV-labeled meat in the store to help with the friend’s sheep when they are going to slaughter, talk rural development with the neighbors and join in and start a village council. My perspective has changed. But have I changed basically? Who am I here which I was not in Stockholm and vice versa.

Almost there I start with the exhibition BEFORE/AFTER and think that in my studio I’m equally at home regardless of geographical location. Jewelry that grows up becomes collage in the sense that I look for contexts and allow different parts to meet in a quest for harmony with content. Balance and imbalance will be obvious. Then I also look for keys forward and back in my work. I have a palette to be expanded for each new job. Shifted or changes.

As usual, lays the big drama then in the encounter with the individual body. Everything that feels so obvious in a format where the base is flat suddenly becomes completely distorted or reinforced by placing on a human being. Something little reminds me of my thoughts about what is “realmiest”, the idea of life or life itself. And at what stage is the jewelry most “true”. I skip to follow Henrik Schyfferts further thought but promise myself to help with the lamb slaughter next year.
