By on June 18, 2018

Hiphop artist Jonathan Leandoer, known as Yung Lean, has together with choreographer Eleanor Bauer created a music and dance work performed with twelve dancers from the Cullberg Ballet. On 13 – 14 September, they stand on Dramatens big stage with NEAR – an exclusive dance concert with Jonathan Leandoer on stage.

The tickets are released!

Choreographer Eleanor Bauer and composer Jonatan Leandoer Håstad/Yung Lean work for the first time together and create a new concept – Dance Concert. NEAR is a fantasy world that they together explore. The common interest of the two artist in poetry has also been an important starting point for the cooperation.

Eleanor Bauer is an artist and choreographer and works in the intersection of dance, text and music. She is originally from the United States and is a PhD student in choreography at Stockholm Artistic College. Jonatan Leandoer Håstad/Yung Lean has in a short period of time gone from underground success to becoming a real star. In 2017 he got a Grammis for this year’s hiphop. The music of NEAR was created in collaboration with ambient musician, multi instrumentalist and video artist Frederik Valentin, and is based on material from Jonathan Leander’s upcoming album, music from previous albums like Yung Lean and Jonathan Leandoer127, as well as music created directly for NEAR.

The dancers of the Cullberg Ballet create a temporary autonomous zone in which they navigate among improvised internships, scoring and creating spontaneous interpretations of a musically and poetically structured universe. Fragile forms and strong magic drives NEAR in a handsome and honest exploration of what is required to be awake in the world and in a body together with others.
NEAR has a world premiere at Way Out West in Gothenburg in August.

Given in the framework of Dramaten&, in collaboration with the Cullberg Ballet and Luger.
NEAR, September 13-14, Big Stage.
