Summer Design Week is for the second time in Stockholm, with an exciting program for all design and fashion enthusiasts. Model designer Zandra Rhodes exhibits at Auktionsverket to start her celebration of 50 years in the fashion industry.

The world-renowned creator Costas Voyatzis also comes to Stockholm to make a unique installation, at the Dutch embassy Moooi will provide a design talk about sustainability.

Summer Design Week brings together design actors in interior design, design, art, crafts, fashion, music and food crafts, to celebrate design and lift Stockholm as a design city.

Between August 19-25, the city is filled with a variety of design events at everything from galleries and exhibition rooms to museums and other cultural institutions. Stockholmers and tourists gather to visit open showrooms, exhibitions, workshops and mingle nights. At the same time, Formex also goes to Stockholmsmässan.

With Summer Design Week in August and Stockholm Design Week in February, we want to strengthen Stockholm as a design destination, says Chicie Lindgren, head of Stockholm Design Events at Stockholmsmässan.

British fashion designer Zandra Rhodes is in Stockholm with a colorful exhibition at Auktionsverket where Zandra will auction off her artwork, posters and some exclusively hand-picked garments.

The creator Costas Voyatzis, from Greece and the founder of the successful digital magazine Yatzer, curates a meeting between the Mateus brands and the French textile company Pierre Frey.

Summer Design Week for the first time in Sweden introduces the playful concept – Design Diplomacy. Design Diplomacy was initiated by Helsinki Design Week to promote relations between countries and designers. Design Diplomacy, previously held in Tokyo, Reykjavik, Berlin, Oslo, Madrid, Canberra and New York, is held at the Dutch Embassy and is hosted by, among others, designer Rick Tegelaar from the Dutch Moooi.

– We welcome all types of events in design, interior design, art, fashion, food and music, says Lotta Ahlvar, operational project manager.

Nationalmuseum, Sweden’s national arena for art and design, is a collaborative partner for the design week, which during the week offers both design breakfast, after-work and special-guided tours of the exhibition about Danish Finn Juhl.
