De andra are a newly written piece by Jan Waldekranz depicting exclusion, questions of trust and compassion. In the roles we see Jan Waldekranz and Electra Hallman. First performance at Målarsalen on January 24th.

De andra depict a meeting between two people who lost the most. In a whirlwind conversation they explore each other and themselves. What governs our lives and our possibilities? And from what side of society do you regard the others?

– I have written a parallel action to my own life. The situations and the people are authentic to me. My mother worked at the alcohol outpatient clinic in Södertälje and one of my first jobs at the age of 18 was to drive alcoholics to nursing homes. It happened that I drove friends’ dads. Why did I end up at Dramaten instead of being excluded like some childhood friends? I grew up with a cultural capital and had an early power to manage my life. Without that I had …. No, it would be idiotic to say something about it, because no human is planning to fail or be eliminated. You only know what you know, says Jan Waldekranz about his new play.
