Iggy Pop to Sweden this summer!

By on November 18, 2018

Iggy Pop is one of our most iconic artists today. It is an artist who is loved and appreciated all over the world – for several decades. And now the living legend comes to beautiful and unique Dalhalla this summer. The 3rd of July will be a summer night to remember!

There is a reason why Iggy Pop is considered the godfather of the punk. Each punk band – regardless of age – has either borrowed or unconsciously borrowed something from Iggy and his former band The Stooges. The iconic gesturing on stage, the inexhaustible energy or just his garage rocky roar – all has been shown in the genre that emerged after.

Since its inception with The Stooges in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Iggy Pop has gone on to create one of the most iconic careers of music history, with a number of cultured albums on his conscience. As an artist who has never been afraid of breaking formulas, his creation has always evolved. The strong catalog, though, it is on stage Iggy Pop is going to be experienced. He is the most obvious artist to cut off from “watching the live” list, an artist one must have only experienced – the rock stars rock star are called in short Iggy Pop.

Iggy Pop – or James Newell Osterberg Jr. which he really called – has since the beginning of 1960 released some 20 studio albums in different constellations. Some of the songs on them produced iconic sounds like at The Passenger, others became commercially successful as the song Candy (with Kate Pierson) and other hits were able to mix cult films like Lust for Life. The first of his two solo albums was written along with and produced by David Bowie – a collaboration that many consider to be one of the strongest musical alliances ever.

In 2010 he was completely correct chosen into the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame and on July 3, 2019, Iggy Pop plays in beautiful Dalhalla!

Dalhalla is an outdoor arena for theater, concert and opera performances, opened in 1993 in the abandoned limestone quarry Draggängarna outside of Rättvik in Dalarna.
