With their captivating energy and skill, they beat the world to millions of viewers at the London opening ceremony in London 2012. The Majorettes is the artist group whose characteristic is that it consists only of girls and that they perform with just hula hoop – as many as possible at the same time! Now they are visiting Sweden and Alby for the first time with a show and try-on the weekend 8 and 9 September.

The Majorettes was founded by the artist Marawa and the company has become a growing movement with shows and workshops all over the world. The message is: “Everyone can, now we drive!” Marawa The Amazing, as she calls herself, educated herself as a circus performer within the trap, but always knew that it was hula hoop which would be her specialty. An important part of her business is the public contact and making the exercise available to as many different groups as possible, preferably the youngest and the oldest.

– I love that you can have the hula hoop everywhere and that you can involve your audience to try and feel the joy of moving together. The squad coming to Alby is very enthusiastic, says Marawa.

Saturday, September 8th and Sunday, September 9th (election day), four of the members come from The Majorettes and give a show with a try on on Alby Square. The performance is free (30 min) is given at 14, 15 and 16.

The performance is done on the initiative of Subtopia and is open and free.
