The London band Formation releasing their debut album titled ‘Look At The Powerful People’ on 24 March. They will embark on a tour in the UK the same month and Europe in May.

Formation started when Will and Matt Ritson began to experiment and improvise a 3-minute-long pop songs together. Fairly quickly it exploded into something even deeper and darker and shortly thereafter joined Jonny Tams (bass), who spent his teenage fiddling with broken synths before he got to work with artists like Björk and Russell Haswell. Kai Akinde-Hummel (drums) had a musical grandfather who was part of the Nigerian trumpeter, Dr.Victor Olaiya’s band and Sash Lewis on synth has previously worked with artists such as Caribou and Floating Points.

The long-awaited debut album ‘Look At The Powerful People’ released in March, is co-produced by Adele and The Strokes engineer Ben Baptie well as House producer and DJ Leon Vynehall.

Formation is something else. Something really. Something you can rely on. They have been inspired by Stax and Curtis Mayfield, Pantera and Sly Stone, Gil Scott-Heron and Vaughan Williams. Look at The Powerful People is, summation of the band member Matt Ritson, “a diverse recordings from various people for a diverse crowd”.
