Folke Bernadottes bridge over Djurgårdsbrunnsviken

On Tuesday, September 17, it was finally time for the inauguration of Folke Bernadotte’s bridge. A new pedestrian and bicycle bridge over Djurgårdsbrunnsviken that connects southern and northern Djurgården.

In about the same place, there have previously been two smaller bridges. King Karl XIV Johans riding bridge in the 19th century and the Stockholm exhibition walkway in 1930.

Folke Bernadotte’s bridge is designed by Rundquist Architects and with its recessed LED lighting from Fox it is a little more modern than its two predecessors.

The lighting consists of a series of LED pucks named HLS Snap that are folded into a metal profile under the wooden beam. A smart system that does not affect the architecture of the bridge and which also provides good lighting for pedestrians and cyclists.
