The acclaimed playwright and director Malin Axelsson, artistic director of the Swedish Radio Drama, comes to the Dramaten for the first time with a newly written play about the first great love. A disastrous love that affects young Emily with all its strength. Laura’s läppar has its first performance at Lejonkulan on January 31st.

– How do we even survive the first great love? How do we manage to get through it and eventually become adults? Obviously, many have succeeded! This play is looking into those issues, through laughter and tears and turgid love ballads. We play for everyone who dared or tries to dare to take the staggering leap that love is, says Malin Axelsson about her performance.

Laura’s läppar are a labyrinthine horror story of becoming obsessed with someone who cannot be reached. Approaching the abyss and becoming mad with longing. Being so fixed by those lips that everything collapse and the heart is exploded.

The play is written and directed by Malin Axelsson, artistic director of Sweden’s Radio Drama, where she has made success with the series Parmiddagen and Cheferna. As an artistic director for Young Scene/East she has created acclaimed performances that Jag blir en bubbla som blir ett monster som blir ett barn, ROFLMAOWTIME and Rose Rose Rose. In 2016, she received the Mare Kandre Prize for her debut novel Anropa.

A production from Unga Dramaten. Recommended from 13 years.
