Three fashion students from Beckmans College of Design competing in the Designers’ Nest during the Copenhagen Fashion Week.

Students Amanda Borgfors Mészàros, Marie Isacson and Sissel Kärneskog showed their debut collections at Beckmans during autumn display In Flux. There are three personal collections that builds on experiments with materials, and various textile techniques.

Valuable exchange with other design colleges

The collections will be judged by a hand-picked international jury and will be in competition with students from other Nordic design colleges.

Just the exchange between Nordic design colleges are a very valuable experience for the students. The fashion industry is international and the competition is fierce, to meet students from other colleges, see their collections and contacts provides inspiration to push their designs further, says Pär Engsheden, fashion designer and program manager for the fashion program at Beckmans.

Three personal collections

Amanda Borgfors Mészàros has worked with mouldat leather, pearl embroidery, and knitwear in herringbone pattern in a collection that draws inspiration from karate.

Marie Isacson have experimented with latex, knitwear and leather in a collection that is a transformation of a dysfunctional skin.

Sissel Kärneskog’s collection is in its turn a self-portrait by playing with garment identity examines how heteronormativity affected her as a person. Throughout her collection is experimentation with patchwork and digital printing in 3D.
