By on January 7, 2017

Ed Sheeran‘s two new singles, “Castle on the Hill” and “Shape Of You,” marks an incredibly exciting and innovative comeback for the multi-award winning artist.

Yesterday Ed released the singles (his first release since 2015) that showcases two new, very different sides of the star’s musical palette. “Castle On The Hill,” written by Ed and Benny Blanco (also production), is a tribute to growing up in Framingham, Suffolk. The driving tempo and with Springsteen-like riffs created a new grand arena-song. “Shape Of You,” written by Ed, Johnny McDaid and Steve Mac (including production), disassemble and rebuild contemporary pop music. The song is an extension of the sound that Ed became well known for – something he first delivered at a showcase in 2010 with his SBTV live performance of “You Need Me, I Do not Need You” and his debut EP ‘No.5 Collaborations Project ‘(which will be attended by several grime artists including Wretch 32, Wiley, etc.), which followed in 2011.

The 25-year-old star commented himself on his comeback;

“Hello 2017! I’ve been working hard on the new material and I hope you can be as excited about it as I am. I really wanted to show two different sides to my music that I’m equally as passionate about and I just knew I wanted to roll with two songs at the same time. I’m absolutely buzzing to be back.

Music Year 2017 starts Ed Sheeran with bravurabe sure to be there when one of the world‘s most beloved, talented and sought-after artists continue to make history onwards.
