Dramatens CEO and theater manager leaves

By on April 8, 2019

Eirik Stubø will leave the post on Monday April 8 as CEO and theater manager at the Dramaten. At the same time, the Board has appointed the current executive vice president Maria Groop Russel as the new CEO with immediate effect.

– Under the leadership of Eirik, Dramaten has had great artistic and public success. New collaborations have begun both in Sweden and internationally. We hope to see Eirik as director at the theater again, says Dramaten’s Chairman of the Board Ulrika Årehed Kågström.

– But the Board believes that Dramaten needs a restart in the areas that concern the working environment. And we think this is best done with a new CEO, says the chairman.

– The recent weeks’ massive attention to Dramaten and work environment issues has affected many and has been stressful for the entire business. And I have in recent days understood that enough people in the staff don’t have enough confidence for me, says Eirik Stubø.

– I have been assigned the task of leading, developing and driving the Dramaten’s entire business forward together with everyone who works here. Dramaten has begun and implemented a number of measures concerning the working environment in different ways. I will continue this work now. In a more systematic way than before. I feel motivated, collected and determined and look very much forward to doing this, says Maria Groop Russel

The board immediately starts recruiting a new theater manager/artistic director.
