The story of Don Juan is universal and boundless. It seduces and touches our thoughts, feelings, ideas and life issues. Mozart’s divine beautiful music allows us to meet a person who lives its life, as if every day were the last and where music drives the game to the end, as Charlotta Huldt’s interpretation is about reconciliation and forgiveness.

In Don Juan, the act has been moved to Mexico during the religious feast Dia de Muertos (the day of death). The feast is a religious syncretism and originated in the ancient Indian cultures and Catholicism introduced by the Spanish colonizers. During this weekend people gather to meet with their deceased relatives on lavishly decorated cemeteries and with festive meals cooked at the graves.

“To my surprise, when I traveled and worked with the work in Mexico, I discovered that the play “Don Juan tenorio” of José Zorrilla is played every year, as a chronicle play of the Dia de Muertos (the day of death), their equivalent to Alla Helgona’s weekend . The story of Don Juan seduces and touches people all over the world and embodies human existential thoughts of good and evil, of life and death, and where the divine beautiful music of Mozart’s opera drives, tickles and caresses our senses to ecstasy”, says Charlotta.

The performance is sung in Swedish and is played in Galärparken during the mighty sky with a lot of audience contact.

Ernesto TresPalacios, Baritone, plays the main role Don Juan and is born from Cuba. He works as an international opera singer, but fell in love with Sweden and moved here a few years ago, learned to speak Stockholm quickly and has a mini-greyhound called Håkan.
