The acclaimed and widely award-winning dramatist and director Falk Richter has created a new work with eight actors and dancers from different European countries. “I am Europe” guest plays on Dramatens little scene on April 5 and 6.

The starting point for Falk Richter’s new work I am Europe is the participants’ own personal stories and dreams. How important is identity, origin and homeland? What does identity and community in Europe mean today? Which communities do we belong to and what kind of world do we want to live in?

– The ensemble consists of young actors, dancers and performance artists from various European countries, all with complex stories of identity, family and belonging, which extend far beyond national and cultural boundaries. Some have families originating from former colonies, giving them a different perspective on Europe, says Falk Richter, who will also be in place in Stockholm during the guest play.

Falk Richter is one of Germany’s foremost directors and dramatists whose plays have been translated into over 30 languages. His specially written work SAFE opened the 2018 Bergman Festival at Dramaten. 2018, Falk Richter was awarded The German Critics Award “The Director of the Year” by the German theater magazine Theater heur for the set of Elfriede Jelineks Am Königsweg. The Teddy Award jury, the international film award for LGBTQ films, has this year awarded the Falk Richter “Special Teddy Award”. Read more here>>
