Danshappening on the red line when the network for dance development in the Stockholm region celebrates Dance Day

To celebrate Dance Day, Dance on the red line arranges a mobile dance event on April 29, which starts at Liljeholmens galleria, on to Skärholmens torg, Vårby Gård with a finish in Hallunda. Performance Company ReAct! will meet up and guide the audience along the way. During the dance trip with the metro, travelers will have to meet different kinds of dance with examples such as jazz, indian, afrobeat, contemporary and street.

The audience can go all the way or choose to stop at the different places on their own. The dance trip is free but a valid SL ticket is required.

ABOUT THE PARTICIPATOR
Both professional actors such as ReAct !, and Jelnek participate. Dancers from the Fryshuset, DOCH, the Stockholm Cultural School, the Dansprogrammet, DANSA / SNACKA, Botkyrka Kulturskola, Saraswathy Kalakendra – Usha Balasundaram, the Indian Dance Academy, the Mosaic Theater, Empire Dancers from the Association Expose and Stockholm’s Aesthetic Gymnasium are participating.

Dance on the red line is a network consisting of a number of organizations that work with dance development along the red line of the metro. ABOUT DANCE DAY
The dance day is celebrated internationally every year on April 29th. It was established in 1982 by the International Dance Committee, ITI-UNESCO. The date is Jean-Georges Noverre’s birthday. Noverres was a regenerator of ballet art. The initiative to celebrate Dance Day in Sweden was taken by the Swedish Danish Committee for the Capital of Culture year 1998. Since then, Dance Day on April 29 is an annual recurring manifestation to give the dance special attention.

13.00 – 13.30 Liljeholmens galleria
Participants: Dancers from the Mosaic Theater, Stockholm’s Aesthetic Gymnasium, the Indian Dance Academy and the Dance and Circus College.

13.55 – 14.15 Skärholmens square
Participants: Dancers from the Dance and Circus College, Stockholm School of Culture and Fryshuset.

14.35 – 15.05 Vårby Gård/Dansbana!
Participants: Dancers from Jelnek/Dansa Snacka, Dance and Circus College, Saraswathy Kalakendra – Usha Balasundaram and Empire Dancers from the association Expose.

15.45-16.15 Hallunda Center
Participants: Dancers from Botkyrka Cultural School and the Dance Program.
