Conrad in collaboration with the Technical Museum during the museum’s drone weekend. During the weekend of 14-15 October, drone experts, families with children and technologists gather at the Technical Museum’s premises to participate in the MegaMind Drone Race 2017. The collaboration is based on strengthening the experience and technology interests of the museum’s visitors through Conrad’s drone commitment and extensive technology offering.

The Technical Museum works for the public and young people to develop a growing interest in technology and science by combining play with knowledge. The museum also manages Sweden’s industrial and technological heritage through a variety of collections. The museum is located at Gärdet in Stockholm and has a visitor number of around 300,000 annually.

Some of Sweden’s leading multicopterpilots will meet on Saturday, October 14, in a match about the title MegaMind Drone Champion. The entire competition will be streamed live at the Technical Museum’s Youtube channel, as well as commented by the radio profile Kjell “Kjelleman” Eriksson. All contestants have a droner with a built-in camera, so-called FPV (First Person View). With FPV, the competition is expected to be more intimate and entertaining for the viewer invited to follow the drone through all obstacles and crashes through a large screen.

In addition to the opportunity to follow the competition, visitors will be offered to fly as FPV passengers while the pilots are in control. Visitors will also be able to ask questions to the Drone Sweden association, which shows and explains drones and accessories. Conrad will also compete a racing driver with associated obstacles on Saturday to a visitor as well as award prizes to the participants of the MegaMind Drone Race. Sunday, October 15, will also have a focus on drones with various trial-on activities.

This is how Jacob Romberg, Marketing Manager at Conrad says about that Conrad is now entering and supporting the Technical Museum during the MegaMind Drone Race 2017:

“We are extremely pleased that we received a request to join and enable the Technical Museum’s first professional drone competition. We think the Technical Museum carries out an important and valuable activity that society benefits greatly. By joining a partnership with the Technical Museum, our hope is to contribute to a greater technological interest and know-how. Conrad has a big commitment to just droners and has been sponsoring the International Drone Champions League this year, where we also had our own racing team.”

The cooperation between Conrad and the Technical Museum’s drone weekend can be a recurring concept in the future.
