By on April 12, 2017

Over the years have a number of clever and interesting people assignment to welcome spring before the bonfire is lit on Walpurgis Night. Skansen is now pleased to present this year’s Carolina Klüft as this year’s spring speaker.

Carolina Klüft has had a fabulous career as an athlete. Now she has moved on, studying, become a mother, involved with the same warmth and energy in social issues as she previously displayed at the arena. It will be reflected in her spring speech at Skansen.

She is a Swedish former athlete at the elite level that reached her greatest success in the heptathlon. She holds the European record of 7032 points in the heptathlon in 2005 and the junior world record in the same event. At age 22 she became the youngest athlete to date that has conquered all five international gold medals; Olympic Champion, World Champion (indoor and outdoor) and European championships (indoor and outdoor).

Carolina Klüft has studied peace and conflict studies, rhetoric, international politics and social psychology. Today she runs her own business and get involved in social issues. She also sits on the SSNC’s national board, she is a goodwill ambassador for the Swedish United Nations Association and participates as host of sporting event.

Apparently there will be no half-tepid speech to the spring of this year, either.
