Barbro Lindgren for adults in great musical set when Lars Rudolfsson debuts at the Royal Dramatic Theatre
By MyGuide2Stockholm on February 3, 2017

Musically, warm and beautiful. Lars Rudolfsson, who is perhaps best known as the director behind Kristina från Duvemåla, takes on Barbro Lindgren’s stories for adults about people in a hospital. This is with a large renowned ensemble, a mighty tree in the salon and acclaimed jazz trio Fire! live on stage. Premiere February 23 on the main stage.
In Molnens bröder we meet people who live nearest to hidden on the hospital. The time is the 1920s, the place a very different Sweden. The author Barbro Lindgren portrays these people into society’s margins both loving and unsentimental. Her drastic language, subtle humor and loyalty to the outcasts creates a warm feeling in the dark. Music plays an important role in the set and the musical director is saxophonist Mats Gustafsson, one of the biggest names in Swedish jazz today. With his jazz trio Fire !, he has toured worldwide. In Molnens bröder gives the audience a chance to experience the group in a unique musical interplay with the actors on stage.
Barbro Lindgren is one of Sweden‘s most beloved writers. Eldvin (1972) and Molnens Bröder (1975) are two of her books for adults, which this play is based on. Director Lars Rudolfsson, who led Orionteatern 1983-1993 and 2002-2015, and Malmo Opera 1993-1998, makes with Molnens bröder his debut as a director at the Royal Dramatic Theatre. Lars Rudolfsson often work with music, dramatic works – among other things he wrote Kristina från Duvemåla together with Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus (and Jan Mark), a set of which he also directed. Björn, Benny and Lars continued cooperation with Hjälp sökes (written together with Kristina Lugn). Lars Rudolfsson has previously set up Barbro Lindgren’s Vems lilla mössa flyger? at the Orion Theatre.
